ANNUAL SUMMER BREAK - back Sept 1st

Print & Pattern is off on its annual summer break for the next couple of weeks and will return for the new season on September 1st. Thanks so much for reading and I hope to see you back again soon.
Just a reminder also on the submission for the Print & Pattern Nature book. There is still time to submit your entries - lots of lovely designs have been coming in already - many of which have been floral so I am still on the look out for some other subjects such as fossils, shells, coral, pebbles, trees, seaweed, water, rain drops, wood, grasses etc. More details can be found here.

CARDS - hooray today

One of my favourite card companies I have discovered in recent times has been Hooray Today. This fab stationery company was founded in 2014 by illustrators and product designers Allison Black and Alyssa Nassner. The fun duo love confetti, designing colourful fruit, and creating vibrant happy typography that really brings fun and humour back to everyday celebrations. In their online shop and Etsy Shop you can buy greetings cards, art prints and paper goods.

DESIGNER - herbert green

Rachael Cocker is an illustrator who has graduated this year from Edinburgh University's College of Art. Like me Rachael 'likes to hide behind her secret identity' and creates her work under the pseudonym Herbert Green. Her style is bold and colourful with a sense of playfulness. Rachael finds inspiration in natural forms such as fruit, vegetables and plants. She loves to create drawings, collages, ceramics, patterns, printed fabrics and knitted and crocheted designs hence her title - illustrator-designer-maker. She is interested collaborations, projects or commissions and can be contacted via her website here.

CARDS - our heiday

Our Heiday is the stationery brand of designer Patricia Shen. Launched in Los Angeles in 2014 Patricia has go on to expand into stationery, cards, art prints and gift wrap. The company name 'Our Heiday (a play on 'heyday') is named after her mum and aunts whose Korean names begin with 'Hei'. It was this family that fostered her love of art and encouraged Patricia to live a life full of colour. You can see more online here.

This is followed by Kite Strings by David Parsons designed in 1956 for Heals. The final design is Pavanne created by Mary Harper in 1963.
